Barn Manager
Job Description
Lake Oswego Hunt is seeking a dedicated Barn Manager to oversee barn operations, horse care, staff, and lesson programs. We are a historic equestrian facility with a thriving lesson program, private boarding and host to equine competitions and community events.
Responsibilities:
- Manage barn operations, rule enforcement, and emergency response.
- Manage Riding Academy: grow lesson program for adults, advanced, and beginner youth riders.
- Hire, train, and supervise instructors, interns, and barn staff.
- Manage Riding Academy herd: optimize for lesson program growth, oversee care, vet, and farrier visits.
- Work with property caretaker to maintain safe property and facility
- Ensure barn, office and public spaces are clean
- Assist with administrative duties: emails, invoicing, registrations, and reports.
- Organize in-barn shows, events, and clinics.
- Manage social media, fundraising, and volunteer coordination.
- Orient new boarders and members.
- Open communication with Board of Directors liaison
- Provide coverage as needed for barn staff
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in horse care and lesson instruction.
- Experience with IEA and/or 4-H is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
