Job Description

Team Dream Training Center (TDTC) is looking for that person who wants to make a difference!  Our Assistant Barn Manager & Head Groom position is part of a fun-loving, horse-loving, team of professionals.  TDTC is a fast-paced, never boring environment where integrity and trust are highly valued.  

The TDTC, owned and managed by Jen Truett (), is looking for that person who takes a great deal of pride in the proper care of horses, providing leadership for all employees and demonstrating a can-do attitude.  We are looking for an individual that not only has a love of horses but has the experience required to oversee the safety, health and welfare of 10-15 horses.  As part of the grooming responsibilities, the individual will use different therapy modalities (Theraplate, Laser, Activo-Med blanket) and will walk, lunge or ride training horses as needed.

What It Takes

The Assistant Barn Manager & Head Groom Position requires:

  1. Timeliness, self-direction, self- motivation and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  2. Ability to lead and manage staff to achieve quality and efficient barn chores and horse care.  
  3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills to facilitate clear communication between Owner/Head Trainer and staff, clients, veterinarian, farrier, body workers, etc.
  4. Attention to each individual horse, noticing even minor changes from normal states: physical, mental, social, appetite, etc.
  5. The skill to logically process information, develop a game plan, communicate ideas clearly and succinctly, implement agreed upon processes, and follow up/check-in with everyone in communication loops. 

Essential Skills and Competencies

  1. Experienced in barn management 
  2. Able to leverage the computer for bookkeeping, inventory tracking, timekeeping, etc.
  3. Experienced in the grooming of multiple horses in a day
  4. A process improvement and organizational skills mindset
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Experience with veterinary and therapy modalities 
  7. Ability to operate farm vehicles and tractors
