About Camp Laurel South: Camp Laurel South is a premier, co-ed residential summer camp located in Casco, Maine. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, spirited community where campers grow in confidence, character, and skill—while having the time of their lives. Our riding program is a cornerstone of camp life, built on safety, sportsmanship, and a genuine love of horses.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced, passionate Riding Director to lead and oversee our comprehensive English riding program. The Riding Director is responsible for the daily management of the barn, horses, and riding staff, while creating a safe, structured, and inspiring environment for campers of all skill levels.This is a hands-on leadership role that blends instruction, horse care management, staff supervision, and program development within a fun, high-energy camp community.

What You'll Do:

  1. Lead and supervise all aspects of the riding program, including lessons, horse care, scheduling, and camper progressions
  2. Train, and mentor riding instructors and barn staff
  3. Ensure the highest standards of horse welfare, barn organization, and equipment care
  4. Create a positive, encouraging environment where campers build skills and confidence
  5. Communicate effectively with camp leadership regarding program updates and rider development

Qualifications:

  1. Extensive English riding background (Hunter/Jumper preferred)
  2. Previous experience managing a barn or equestrian program preferred
  3. Strong leadership and staff supervision experience
  4. Knowledge of horse health, stable management, and lesson progression
  5. Excellent organizational and communication skills
  6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, youth-centered environment

  1. Seasonal Position: June 9th-August 18th, 2026
  2. Residential (Room and Board Included)
