Private Family Equine Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional horse professional to become the long-term steward of a thoughtfully developing private family equestrian program.
This is not a boarding stable, lesson barn, or commercial operation.
Our multi-generational family farm is being created as a place where children, extended family, and future generations can safely enjoy horses together. We value excellence, integrity, kindness, discretion, and doing things the right way, even when no one is watching.
Our growing program includes sport horses, carefully selected family trail horses, and a newly constructed private equestrian facility. We are looking for someone who takes immense pride in horse care and believes exceptional management is found in the countless small details noticed every day.
About the Role
As Private Family Equine Manager, you will oversee every aspect of our horses’ daily care and well-being while helping build a thoughtful, organized, and exceptional private equestrian program.
You will become the trusted professional responsible for maintaining the highest standards of horse welfare, organization, and safety.
Most importantly, you will help ensure that members of our family, from young children to adult beginners, can enjoy horses in a safe, calm, and confidence-building environment.
Responsibilities
What We’re Looking For
We are searching for someone with excellent horsemanship, but even more importantly, excellent judgment.
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, deeply observant, organized, humble, proactive, and genuinely committed to horse welfare.
They notice subtle changes before they become problems.
They believe there is no shortcut to exceptional care.
They are confident enough to say, “This horse should not be ridden today,” when necessary, regardless of plans or expectations.
Preferred qualifications include:
Our Ideal Candidate
You genuinely enjoy creating order.
You keep immaculate tack.
You learn each horse’s normal behavior and notice when something changes.
You take pride in a beautifully maintained barn, healthy horses, organized systems, polished tack, and calm routines.
You understand that these horses are deeply valued members of our family, not equipment.
You are kind and respectful toward both people and animals.
You are professional, trustworthy, discreet, emotionally steady, and comfortable working within the privacy of a family environment.
You are looking for more than your next position. You are interested in becoming an important, long-term part of a growing equestrian program and helping shape its standards from the beginning.
Compensation & Benefits
We believe exceptional people should be compensated accordingly. Competitive compensation will be based on experience and the overall fit for the role, with opportunities for long-term growth.
The compensation package may include:
Housing is not currently included. Relocation assistance may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
Privacy & Professionalism
Because this is a private family property, discretion is essential. The selected candidate will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the family, property, horses, guests, operations, and activities. Photography, social-media posting, or sharing information about the family or property will not be permitted without prior approval.
A professional background check, driving-record review, reference verification, and paid working interview will be part of the selection process.
To apply please submit:
Photos of horses, barns, or programs you have personally managed are welcome but not required.
We are committed to finding the right person rather than filling this position quickly.
If you are passionate about exceptional horse care, take deep pride in your work, value professionalism and discretion, and are looking for an opportunity to help build something meaningful and lasting, we would be pleased to hear from you.
