We are seeking a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) to join our Reproductive Service.  This unique position provides opportunity to work with both companion and farm animals, including a developed equine breeding program.    This program services client-owned and Cornell-owned animal that you will follow from conception to neonatal care. This motivated individual will assist with clinical service, teaching, and reproductive laboratory analysis.   The position is for daytime Monday-Friday.

  • Perform diagnostic evaluations and reproductive procedures using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques: breeding soundness evaluations, semen analysis, ultrasound, endoscopy, advanced reproductive techniques.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited institution, plus NYS Licensure or eligible to be licensed required within 3 months of joining.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a licensed veterinary technician with either small or large animal.
  • Desire to further develop stallion handling skills.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrate commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn the patient tracking software.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously while under pressure and paying close attention to details.
  • Candidate must have the ability to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes, but are not limited to, stressful situations, prolonged standing and kneeling, as well as lifting and restraining patients.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with equine and farm animals strongly desired, with stallion and foal handling a plus.
