Horseback Riding Instructor for beginners to advanced beginner riders

`Willow Mist Riding School is looking for a part time instructor to add to our team. You would be teaching lessons to beginners and advanced beginner kids and adults.  We are not a competition barn but rather a place for people to build a foundation of riding. This position comes with lots of opportunities to grow your skills, while having the support and infrastructure of an established riding center.  

 We offer private, semi-private, and group lessons at our facility along with trail rides. 

Willow Mist Riding School is a small independently owned facility, located on a quiet 30-acre farm, 35 min from Washington, DC. We have both indoor and outdoor arenas as well as miles of trails. We currently have 16 lessons horses/ponies, 2 mini horses, and donkeys.

We focus on balance seat with an emphasis on dressage foundations but also offer Western riding. We emphasize horsemanship, safety and building relationship with horses through equality, communication and shared partnership.

The ideal candidate would:

1. be safety-focused and detail oriented
2. have above average communication skills
3. want to be a part of a supportive and family-like work environment

Responsibilities include:

1. giving riding lessons and instruction to children and adults
2. teaching proper horse care, safe handling and safe riding practices
3. ensuring facilities and equipment are maintained in proper condition
4. assisting in the care of horses as needed

Qualifications include:

1. Reliable transportation
2. at least 5 years of equine experience in Dressage, Show Jumping, Hunter/Jumper or a combination of those disciplines
3. demonstrable skill in horseback riding.
4. must be at least 18 years of age and be able to maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors and clients is required
5. previous riding instruction experience is preferred.

We have a large RV on the property that can be rented as well as room for a paid board of a horse.
