Job Description

Reports to: Director of Riding/Head Trainer

Status: Full time

Job Summary:

Supports the Head Trainer/Director of Riding in managing, planning, administration and supervision of

the equestrian programs for the School. Teach elements of horsemanship and horseback riding to

students. Schools/rides horses in order to exercise them for training purposes.

Equestrian Trainer

Scope of Responsibilities

Lesson and Riding Program:

  • Manage the lesson schedule and teach daily lessons as per the schedule, plus additional extra

lessons for students.

  • Responsible to help organize and maintain a schedule for the show horses and their training

schedule

  • Support the planning and maintaining of a horse show schedule, both on and off campus

  • Take students to one-day local shows, as well as multi day “A” shows

  • Assist in the coordination of all necessary details for travel and participation for students and

horses at shows.

  • Support design of Ground School curriculum

  • Oversee all Barn operations in the absence of the barn manager.

  • Assist in communication to parents

-Assist with The Ethel; Walker School Summer Riding Experience (EWS SRE)

-Assist with EWS IEA

  • Responsible for assisting with evaluation, design and implementation of all systems, policies,

protocols within riding department (i.e. safety, billing, communications etc.)

  • Supervise plan of care and training for class horses

  • Other duties as assigned
