Job Description
The barn manager/ resident trainer/ rider manages daily operations of a 10 stall private hunter and foxhunting family barn in Alabama. He/she supervises other employee, assists ownerโs riding, and works in conjunction with an out-of-town trainer. This person must be able to jump a 3โ course, ride 4-6 horses a day, and condition and jump fox hunters in woods and fields unaccompanied. Tasks include tack and boot cleaning, body clipping, laundry, scheduling, managing medications, arranging courses and gymnastics, trailering horses to shows and foxhunting meets, nightcheck,caring for barn and house dogs, and accompanying owners foxhunting. Ideal candidate has formal lesson background and showing experience, no longer desires to show as part of employment, is extremely clean and organized, pleasant natured, and trustworthy, enjoys a quiet environment, and will care for the horses as if they were your own. Must have managerial experience or significant related education/training. Position is full time at 40 hours/week, with paid vacation days, health insurance, 401K plan, very nice fully furnished housing within 1 mile of barn and house/yard bills and upkeep provided as part of compensation. Schedule may vary and requires some weekend work, and salary depends upon experience.
Experience driving a dually truck and at least a 32 ft long trailer, an excellent driving record, valid driver license, and ability to work legally in the US is required. Employees are background checked and drug tested. One approved dog is possible, no own horse to board, visa sponsorships, or working student opportunities.
