Barn Manager
Job Description
Zia Equestrian is seeking an experienced, full-time Barn Manager to join our team. We are a large breeding, import, and dressage training barn in Aiken SC.
As a barn manager, you will organize and oversee the care of all horses, including feeding and watering, turnout, farrier, grooming, and the issuance of medications and supplements. You will train, supervise, and schedule all staff including grooms, barn workers, and other employees caring for the horses. Responsibilities include employee schedule management, calculating payroll, maintaining records on all of the horses, inventory control and ordering, conducting regular health check-ins for the horses, and general farm duties such as cleaning the barn, dragging the arenas, and operating equipment. You will also assist in grooming tasks (including body clipping), minor equine medical care, show preparation, and occasional event management.
Schedule: 5-day work with shared night checks.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience managing a large breeding and/or show barn.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing inventory and ordering.
- Demonstrated experience leading barn staff.
- Demonstrated experience handling equine emergencies.
- Demonstrated experience managing broodmares and foals.
- Proven ability and experience with equine care.
- Demonstrated capability safely driving a large horse trailer.
- Ability to perform physical labor, lift at least 50 pounds, and work long hours.
- Demonstrated problem solving capabilities.
- Pre-vet or vet tech experience with demonstrated ability giving IM and IV injections.
- Demonstrated skill with body clipping and grooming.
- Must be passionate about horse care.
- Candidates must be US citizens or legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a dressage show barn.
- Fluent in Spanish and English
