Equestrian Director / Head Riding Instructor

Camp Waziyatah (www.wazi.com) is seeking a qualified Head Riding Instructor to manage our barn and supervise riding staff. Wazi is a traditional, non-denominational, co-ed camp in a beautiful setting situated on a private lake in Southern Maine. Camp Waziyatah has a rich 99 year history and is world famous as the original setting for the Disney Channel TV Show “Bug Juice” and “Bug Juice: My Adventures at Camp”. Wazi is dedicated to having the finest staff anywhere and focuses on training, support, and mentoring to give staff members the tools they need to have a positive impact on the lives of campers.

The Head Riding Instructor is responsible for the care and maintenance of Camp Waziyatah’s horses and facilities, the instruction of campers ages 6-16, and managing and guiding a staff of 3 to 4 people.

Head Riding Instructor must be at least 21 years of age, have a certification from a nationally recognized organization or riding school OR have 3 years valuable and recent teaching experience, at least 6 weeks experience in management or supervisory position at a riding facility, and a valid driver’s license. CPR and First Aid training are beneficial. All employees must pass a background check.
