Equestrian Camp Counselor and Barn Specialist

Our Equestrian program is hiring for Summer 2024! YMCA Camp Tecumseh offers a variety of horse programs for our campers from trail rides to riding lessons for beginner to advanced riders and are looking for dedicated, hard working staff to join our team to provide those amazing experiences!

Following our extensive training, all of our equestrian staff will prepare and give riding lessons to campers ages 8-15. Our Equestrian Cabin Counselors will serve a dual role of being an instructor and an Overnight Cabin Counselor to a group of 10 girls each week. You will also participate in traditional camp activities from swimming to cookouts to games and much more. Dates for training and summer run from May 19 – August 10.

Our Barn Specialist role will be more hands-on in the care of the horses and our small petting farm while still providing lessons and interacting with the campers on a daily basis. While this role does not involve living in a cabin, you’ll be living on site in a suite style building with other support staff. This role has the opportunity to be broken up into two different sessions if one is unable to commit to the whole summer. Dates for training and summer run from May 13 – August 10. Neither role requires an extensive horse background as we are looking for dedicated, responsible, outgoing applicants who desire to work with horses and children and are able to function well with a team. We will provide the training needed. Room and board provided for both roles.
