Certified Veterinary Technician

Bend Equine Medical Center is a privately owned 24-hour Equine General Practice/ Emergency and Referral Hospital with board-certified specialists in surgery and internal medicine. We are located in the most beautiful place on earth (at least we think so) located in the High Desert of Central Oregon. If you are an outdoor enthusiast then this is the place to work, live and play!  We have thousands of miles of the best trails for mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking and known as “bona fide climbing town,” from National Geographic Magazine for the rock climbers. In the winter we have endless downhill and cross-country skiing right outside our back door.  We are 4 hours from the beautiful Pacific Ocean and surrounded by a multitude of lakes and rivers for the fishing, rafting, kayaking and paddle boarding for those enthusiasts. We are currently looking to add a skilled licensed veterinary technician to our amazing growing team.

Working here is a meaningful career making a real and tangible difference in horses’ and their humans’ lives on a daily basis. There are long hours, hard physical work, plenty of clean up (they are horses, after all), and some sad endings too. But then there are wonderful, smart, hard-working coworkers, owners that appreciate what you do, and the ability to match your passion for horses to your profession

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician who wants to use the full scope of technical skills who may have a special interest in anesthesia, surgery and endoscopy.  Preparing for and assisting with radiology and ultrasound, endoscopy and gastroscopy cases.  Venipuncture and IV catheter placement, patient treatments, administering medication, charting and invoicing as well as assisting in surgery, recovery and so much more.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-year equine experience who is a team player, with excellent communication and customer service skills. Experienced horse handling is a must to keep our doctors, owners and team safe. This candidate is organized, hardworking, team player with an ability to plan ahead as well as adjust to meet the needs of our doctors and clients. Someone who sees the value of our hospital and equipment and helps to keep it clean and running smoothly.

Bend Equine offers an amazing supportive team atmosphere, and work environment.  We offer competitive wage and benefit package which includes health, dental and optical insurance, 401K with an employer match, continuing education opportunities, uniform allowance, PTO and short-term disability insurance.
