Associate Director of Patient Care and Patient Facilities

This role is a specialist within animal health e.g., infection prevention, audit, quality assurance, safety. Under the management of the Director of Clinical Care Technicians and Patient Care Facilities will manage a team of 7 Clinical Care Technicians and a team of 10 Patient Care Attendants. Position located in Kennett Square, PA.

Under the management of the Director of Imaging and Clinical Services, this position will manage a team of 7 Clinical Care Technicians and a team of 10 Patient Care Attendants. The job requires oversight of 6 barns to include 100 stall maintenance. This job requires that you have a solid grasp on horse handling, animal husbandry, maintenance of patient facilities equipment and the ability to guide staff through very difficult and sometimes dangerous situations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the Clinical Care Technicians and Patient Care Attendants
  • Maintain all patient housing with the assistance of the Director of Facilities to include all disinfecting between patients, stall and barn maintenance
  • Maintain and repair all equipment to be used by staff
  • Maintain an inventory of all patient care supplies, feed and bedding material.
  • Provide all necessary training to the staff in accordance with biosecurity standards, training related to radioactive materials and biohazard waste
  • Ensure that there is coverage 7 days a week by formulating a monthly schedule.
  • Responsible for employee recruitment, performance management (including improvement plans) and scheduled PTO utilizing Workday software.
  • Provide onboarding and schedule training for employees as needed
  • Provide teaching to Veterinary students and Harcum students
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing staff; 10 years is preferred
  • Experience working in a large animal hospital preferred
  • Ability to work with the HR department in staff management, hiring, terminations, and disciplinary actions
  • Exceptional leadership, great communication (both verbal and written) and excellent problem-solving skills is required
